Collision Lakeshore Dr. & Charles St.
A two vehicle collision took place during the 5pm rush hour on Lakeshore Drive at Charles Street on Wednesday. Emergency crews rushed to the scene which caused a temporary lane closure heading south on Lakeshore while they cleaned up the debris. Paramedics were seen attending to one person while fire crews worked promptly to clean up the seen.Traffic did have a detour in the meantime while lanes were reopened a short while later.
North Bay Battalion prep for Soo Greyhounds
The North Bay Battalion will be hosting the Soo Greyhounds tonight at Memorial Gardens.The team is currently tied with the Sudbury Wolves at the moment so a win tonight would move them in a tie for first place in the Central with the Mississauga Steelheads. In order to do that the team will need contributions from all four lines.
One Deceased in HWY11 N Collision
On November 8, 2023, just after 12:00 p.m. members of the North Bay OPP detachment, Nipissing District Paramedic Services and North Bay Fire Department responded to a two vehicle collision involving a passenger vehicle and a commercial motor vehicle. Members of the OPP Northeast Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) as well as the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME) assisted with the investigation. A passenger in the car, an 82- year-old from Barrie was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the car was transported to hospital with life threatening injuries along with the second passenger who suffered serious injuries. The driver of the commercial motor vehicle did not sustain any injuries. Highway 11 North was closed for approximately three hours. The investigation is still ongoing and further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Nipissing Jr. Lakers Day
The City of North Bay proclaimed November 3rd, 2023 as North Bay & District Girls Hockey Junior Lakers Day. The weekend will be jam packed with a large women's hockey tournament as well as a sold out Nipissing Lakers OUA Women's game that is nearing a sell out.
Strong Mayor's Act
Mayor Peter Chirico does not plan on changing the way the City of North Bay conducts business despite some new powers allocated to him through the Strong Mayors, Building Homes Act. We spoke with him about the new act brought forward by the Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark.
Former Deputy Mayor Weighs In
Former Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette has chimed in on the use of the Integrity Commissioner to resolve a Code of Conduct violation between two councillors. Forgette does not believe that the Integrity Commissioner should have been involved at all. This stems from emails and social media post by Councillor Sara Inch to Deputy Mayor Maggie Horsfield. The acting Integrity Commissioner Nicole Singh stated "based on the preponderance of evidence, I find that the respondent's allegations were untrue, disparaging, abusive and ought reasonably to have been known to be unwelcome." Due to the violation of the Code of Conduct, Councillor Inch has to forgo 90 days of pay which amounts to $6,000.
