Holiday for a Hero 2025
Chatham-Kent's ninth Holiday with a Hero event has wrapped up, and it was a great success. Fifty-five kids took part in the program this year. OPP Provincial Constable Jay Denorer, a board member of Holiday with a Hero, explained that the program began with the idea of changing the perspective of kids who may view first responders in a negative way. "The idea was to bring in kids who are underprivileged, in the sense that they've faced traumatic situations throughout the course of the year, and they would see first responders in a - I want to say - a negative or a bad light," Denorer shared. "We wanted to show them that we're people as well, and that we can just come out and have fun."
The Chatham-Kent Racquet Centre officially opened

Last Paddle of the Season Tradition Continues
The Last Paddle of the Season Tradition Continues! Every year the Breast Buddies season on the water ends at approximately the same time as the Chatham Jr Maroons season on the ice begins. Since 2014, the Chatham Jr Maroons have been invited by the Breast Buddies to participate in their last paddle of the season. Following their opportunity to experience being part of a Dragon Boat racing team the Maroons once again assisted the Breast Buddies by lifting the boat out of the water. Then they power washed the boat so it could be stored for the winter. The Chatham Jr Maroons are proud of the young men of this year’s Team for continuing this tradition! “ Pink The Rink” , the Maroons “ Breast Cancer Awareness Night will be held Sunday, October 26th when the Maroons host the LaSalle Vipers.
