Burlington's Ride For Refuge Event
Families and friends took the streets of Downtown Burlington this weekend to raise funds for struggling newcomers to Canada. Devan Murugan joined the event's organizers to find out more about the annual Ride For Refuge.
Milton's Newest Councillor George Minakakis
The Town of Milton held the by-election for Ward One Town Councillor on Monday. This is the spot that was vacated when Kristina Tesser Derksen was election as the MP for Milton-East Halton Hills South. 3,971 votes were cast out of 23,155 eligible voters making the turnout a disappointing 17%. Candidate George Minakakis dominated at the polls reaching nearly double the amount of votes attained by runner-up former Councillor Rick Dilorenzo. Jason Agnew spoke with the newly elected councillor earlier today and asked if he anticipated such a wide victory margin.
The Halton Music Project
A new initiative in Milton aims to bring the community together through music. The Halton Music Project was launched to be a uniting element which will celebrate cultural traditions and educate the audience in a town with an ever-growing and diverse population.

Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward's Gives Update on Automated Speed Camera Program
The Municipal vs. Provincial automated speed camera controversy continues. Yesterday, Jason Agnew spoke with Oakville Mayor Rob Burton who said that he had signed a document with many other mayors across the province asking the Provincial Government to reconsider the proposed ban on speed cameras. That document did find it's way to the Premier, and he swiftly sent a document of his own back to the chair of the Ontario Big City Mayors, who just happens to also be the Mayor of Burlington Marianne Meed Ward. Jason caught up with Mayor Meed Ward minutes after she received the document from her new pen pal.

Mayor Rob Burton Talks About Oakville Speed Enforcement Program
Automated speed enforcement remains one of the hot topics in the province of Ontario. With Premier Ford saying his government would implement legislation to stop allowing municipalities to have speed cameras, many towns and cities across the province are taking a stand against this decision. Film.ca Targeted Violence And Vandalism
Last Thursday we told you about a story involving targeted violence and vandalism at film.ca cinemas in Oakville. Halton police are investigating two violent incidents one involving arson, and the other involving using a handgun to discharge multiple rounds through the entrance doors of the film.ca cinemas.
