The Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton's Reading Corner
February is Black History Month and this past weekend the Canadian Caribbean Association of Halton launched the reading corner at Milton Library's central branch. Nikki Wesley has the details.
Stephen Crawford - PC - Oakville
A longtime resident of Oakville, Stephen Crawford developed a strong work ethic and passion for public service early on. After studying Political Science at Western University and Business at the University of Toronto, he built a successful career in financial services, helping grow Acuity Funds Ltd. into one of Canada’s fastest-growing asset management firms. Stephen and his wife Najia are proud to call Oakville home, raising two sets of identical twin daughters. Deeply engaged in his community, he is a dedicated member of the Oakville Chamber of Commerce, 100 Guys Who Care, and the Royal Canadian Military Institute. Since being elected as Oakville’s MPP, Stephen has championed consumer protection, introducing legislation to safeguard personal information and combat package theft. Recognized for his leadership, he was awarded the Key to Oakville for his work to preserve the town’s distinct identity. Stephen remains committed to protecting Ontario’s families and businesses.
Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor on the Georgetown Go Station Development

The Children's Aid Society of Halton's "Bridging the Gap" Initiative
Homelessness is a reality on our streets in Halton. Many young people are without shelter, even in large metropolitan areas such as Burlington and Oakville. Well, the Children's Aid Society of Halton is leading the charge with its "bridging the gap" initiative. Devan Murugan joined them for their 2 kilometre awareness walk.
Bruno Sousa - Green Party - Oakville
Bruno Sousa immigrated to Oakville at age eight in 1987 and has grown with the community ever since. He built his life here—getting married, raising two children, and actively contributing through local sports associations, Scouts Canada, and school councils. A businessman, entrepreneur, and policy advisor, he advised the Green Party of Canada on AI policy and chaired the Constitution Renewal Commission. Bruno has also led rallies with local groups to protect Halton’s Greenbelt, farms, and wildlife, advocating for the community’s natural heritage.
Megan Beauchemin - NDP - Burlington
Megan is a chemical engineering graduate working in the automotive industry. Raised in Burlington, she is a graduate of Nelson High School and the University of Waterloo (BASc). She currently lives in Burlington with her husband, Michael, and their dog. Megan was elected as the Vice-President, Education for the Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association, advocating for students to the municipal, provincial and federal governments. Megan enjoys quilting and playing board games, and is an active member of the Burlington Curling Club.
Kyle Hutton - Green Party - Burlington
Kyle Hutton is your Ontario Green Party candidate for the next Member of Provincial Parliament for Burlington. He has lived in Burlington for over two decades and is dedicated to building more opportunity for everyone in his community. Kyle works for an environmental non-profit and is running a full campaign aimed at sending another Green MPP to Queen’s Park, with a focus on building affordable homes, fixing healthcare and education, and putting people before profits.
Kaniz Mouli - Liberal - Oakville/NorthBurlington
Kaniz Mouli is a successful business leader in the financial services sector. She has over a decade of experience working in both the private and public sector providing strategic advice and leading large transformation initiatives. Kaniz holds an MBA from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Commerce. She has also been recognized as a Top 40 under 40 by a local Board of Trade. Kaniz lives in Oakville North-Burlington with her husband and young son Zain.
Andrea Grebenc - Liberal - Burlington
Andréa Grebenc is a dedicated leader, educator, and lifelong Burlington resident committed to continuous improvement. With over 20 years of experience teaching at McMaster University and a strong background in information technology, public service, and as a business owner, she brings integrity and passion to every initiative. As a former school board trustee and chair, and community champion, Andréa believes in building stronger communities through informed decision-making, accessibility, and meaningful connections.
