Scouts Plant Trees for Earth Day in Milton
It was boots on the ground for Earth Day in Halton, as young Scouts got their hands dirty for a greener tomorrow. The region marked the day with a massive tree planting at the waste management site in Milton, Devan Murugan was there.
Talia Schlanger Previews Her Performance at the Why Not Wine Festival
Next weekend Lasalle park in Burlington will play host to the Why Not Wine festival, and along with the variety of vino there will also be live music at the event including this guest. Jason Agnew caught up with singer/songwriter Talia Schlanger to chat all things music broadcasting and even a little bit of wine.
Townsend Smith Foundation Fashion Show
The Townsend Smith Foundation is a little closer to its goal of building a hospice in North Halton. A unique fundraising event took place last week to raise both money and keep the awareness of this need front and centre in people's minds. While not everyone has a personal connection to the need for hospice care within their own family, it's an option they want available to the community.
Halton Learning Foundation's Student in the Spotlight Event
The Halton Learning Foundation is a charitable organization that supports students who need financial assistance. In order to ensure that no child is left behind in learning due to financial barriers, they fundraise through events like last night's student in the spotlight event, which Jessica Kaitting had the pleasure of attending.
Millcroft Golf Club Protests
Dozens of residents in and around the Millcroft Golf Course in Burlington took to the streets this weekend.They are demanding the scrapping of a housing development project they say would destroy precious green space. But with fences up and machinery on site, there's no sign the project will be halted. Devan Murugan reports.
Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor Discusses the Town's New MP's
Coming off the federal election Halton Hills is now a part of two ridings. MP Michael Chong was re-elected in Wellington - Halton Hills, and MP Parm Gill was successful in winning the new riding of Milton West - Halton Hills South. In Jason Agnew's monthly check in with Halton Hills Mayor Ann Lawlor he asked how having two Conservative MP's in the midst of a Liberal government will affect the town.
Halton's Cheers to Volunteers Awards
It's National Volunteer Week and here in Halton we are certainly blessed with an abundance of caring and committed volunteers. While there are so many individuals worthy of special recognition, today the focus was on these volunteers from various nonprofits, charities and grassroots organizations in Burlington & Oakville. Jessica Kaitting reports.
Trees for Life Comes to Milton
This past weekend Trees for Life arrived on the scene at Area 8 Conservation Area in Milton to plant 2,300 native trees and shrubs. Videographer Craig Mcnichol helps us learn a little more about the event and the organization behind it.
