Submitted by cdanby on

Known region-wide as the place to celebrate and spend Canada Day, the Town of Amherstburg is once again gearing up for a day-long celebration on Sunday, July 1.

Festivities will be held at Fort Malden National Historic Site. The 5 km Canada D’Eh run returns to kick off the day at 9 a.m. Families will enjoy numerous free activities, including live performances, headlined by popular Ashley Lynn and the Spurs. Kid-friendly events, including pony rides, face painting, wand making, a strolling magician, and a Quidditch ball throw game – all teasers to the upcoming Amherstburg Uncommon festival in August!

To wrap up the evening, the ever popular fireworks display will light up the sky at approximately 10pm.

“Canada Day at Fort Malden NHS has become a family favourite, and a yearly tradition for the entire region,” says Jennifer Ibrahim, Tourism Coordinator. “It’s the best birthday party ever!”

“We extend our deepest gratitude to the Department of Canadian Heritage for helping us make this yet another exciting and memorable event.” For more information, visit www.amherstburg.ca or facebook.com/amherstburgconnection, or phone 519-730.1309.
