TISS Brockville Plays Host to the Annual Event Involving Some 40 Schools from Across the Board

June 14, 2018 (Brockville, ON) – Approximately 700 intermediate athletes from 40 schools competed Wednesday at the 2018 Upper Canada Cup Track and Field Championship, held at Thousand Islands Secondary School. Students participated after qualifying for the meet at several regional events as part of the Upper Canada Cup athletic series, designed to provide additional athletic opportunities for students within our board.

Winners of team championship banners included:
Thousand Islands Secondary School: Grade 7 girls’ champions, Grade 7 boys’ champions, grand aggregate track and field champions, Grade 8 girls’ co-champions (tied with Carleton Place High School)

Carleton Place High School: Grade 8 boys’ champions, Grade 8 girls’ co-champions (tied with Thousand Islands Secondary School)

Individual gold-medal performances at the championship included:
• Hailey Blanchard, Thousand Islands Secondary School: Grade 7 girls’ 100-metre dash, gold, 14.09; Grade 7 girls’ 200-metre dash, gold, 28.66; Grade 7 girls’ 400-metre run, gold, 1:05.53; Grade 7 girls’ 4-by-100 relay, gold, 56.45; girls’ open 4-by-400 Relay, gold, 4:39.71
