Step back in time to prepare a simple seasonal autumn meal using recipes from the 19-th century, some of which were written by a Grimsby resident in 1840. You'll try out a variety of hearth-cooking techniques with the help of historic Cook Demonstrator Julia Baird in the museum's 230-year old open hearth fireplace, and you'll also enjoy a tour of the museum, time to sit and eat your meal around the harvest table, and a booklet of recipes to take home.
Julia Baird is a Historical Interpreter who has worked in historic house museums with a culinary focus for a decade, using mid 19th-century recipes to cook, bake & preserve using an open hearth, brick oven, and wood-fired range. You'll find her Food History blog at www.juliabaird.com.
