Public Notices/Announcements - Windsor/Leamington - Salvation Army - Thanksgiving Community Dinner

Submitted by cdanby on

The Salvation Army will host its first Thanksgiving Community Turkey Dinner on Sunday, October 7. A hot turkey dinner will be served at 355 Church Street from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. The Salvation Army expects to serve over 300 people.

The Salvation Army is able to cook the feast, largely thanks to one local philanthropist. 29-year-old Windsorite Sam Sinjari has donated over 40 turkeys to make sure no one in the community goes without.

“My goal is to inspire others and demonstrate, in creative ways, how one person can make a positive change,” says Sinjari. “It’s not what we have in life that matters; it’s what we do with what we have.”

In 2017, The Salvation Army food bank served more than 12,000 individuals in Windsor.

“When you have a young man like Sam, who is extremely passionate about giving back to his community, it is truly something special. It goes to show you what a powerful difference one person can make,” says Shannon Wise, Salvation Army public relations & development representative.
