Watch out for Community Safety Zone signs as they indicate areas where the community has identified that there is a special risk to pedestrians. The Pembroke Police Services Board and Upper Ottawa Valley OPP Cst. Shawn Peever Media Relations/Community Safety Officer would like to bring attention to the newly designated Community Safety Zone in Pembroke. Community Safety zones let motorists know they are within a Zone where fines have been increased through a special designation under the Highway Traffic Act. (Many set Fines are doubled such as speeding and traffic signal related offences).
