
(PETAWAWA, ON) - On January 11, 2022, at approximately 9:15 a.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 17 and Doran Road in Petawawa.
Investigation found that a tractor-trailer CMV was westbound on Highway 17 when it collided with a southbound passenger vehicle on Doran Road.
The driver of the Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) was not injured.
The driver was the lone occupant of the passenger car. The 24 year-old from Petawawa was not injured but taken to hospital by Renfrew County Paramedics as a precautionary measure.
The driver of the CMV, a 57 year-old from Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, QC, has been charged with the following offence under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA):
- Red light - fail to stop
Both vehicles sustained serious damage and were towed from the scene. Despite the collision officers were able to keep the roadway open in both directions.
