(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) - Two residents of Drummond-North Elmsley Township, Ontario, are facing charges after an early morning incident on Doran Road in Laurentian Valley Township. On June 12, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance involving a taxicab and its occupants on Doran Road. The driver reported being assaulted and their taxi was taken without consent.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Police located and stopped the victim's vehicle on Round Lake Road and both occupants were arrested.
As a result of this investigation 38-year-old Kirk Michael BONTES has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:
· Operation while impaired - alcohol
· Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
· Take motor vehicle without consent
· Uttering threats
· Assault with a weapon
The accused had their driver's licence suspended for 90 days.
Furthermore, 39-year-old Angela Marie BONTES is charged with the following CC offence:
- Take motor vehicle without consent
Both accused persons were released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on July 12, 2022.
