DEATH INVESTIGATION IN UPPER OTTAWA VALLEY

The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a death in the Township of Admaston-Bromley.

 

On January 15, 2023, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers responded with Admaston-Bromley Township Fire and Grattan Township Fire Department to a vehicle fire on Breen Line. After the fire was extinguished, police found a deceased person inside the vehicle. While the cause of death cannot yet be confirmed, investigators believe there is no imminent threat to public safety.

 

The UOV Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), with assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), the Regional Support Team (RST) and the Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS).

 

The investigation is in the early stages and no further details can be released at this time.
