At 12:30 on August 8th, firefighters responded to a barn on fire at 155 Feronia Road. Fire crews arrived on scene and immediately began fire suppression operations. Nobody was home at the time, so the incident went undetected until the fire had grown to a point that the structure was engulfed in significant fire. Upon arrival the fire had already consumed much of the building and the roof of the barn had already collapsed. Firefighters extinguished the fire, but the barn was a total loss.
No people were injured in the fire but a significant number of young chickens did perish as a result of the incident.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
