What’s happening the Sept. 4 long weekend in St. Catharines

Aug. 30, 2023 – It’s the last long weekend of summer! There are plenty of activities
residents can enjoy throughout the City of St. Catharines during the Labour Day
weekend.


Lakeside Park Carousel
The historic Lakeside Park Carousel will be open for its regular hours (11 a.m. until 8
p.m.) all weekend, including Sept. 4. The price remains five cents per ride or admission
by donation. More information can be found at stcatharines.ca/carousel. After Labour
Day, the Carousel will only be open on weekends up until Thanksgiving, from 11 a.m. to
6 p.m.


Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm
You can visit with the animals at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm. Located at 650 Read Rd.
The farm allows for fun, family-friendly, free animal viewing. It is open from 10 a.m. until

Splash pads
Splash pads will be operating on their regular hours (10 a.m. until 8 p.m.), including
Sept. 4. Stop by Bogart Street Park, Catharine Street Park, Lester B. Pearson Park, and
West Park for some fun in the water. For more details, please check out

Morningstar Mill
The Morningstar Mill, located at 2714 Decew Road, will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
all weekend, including Monday, Sept. 4. Tours of the grist mill and Morningstar home
are by donation. You can also connect to the nearby Bruce Trail from the Morningstar

St. Catharines Farmers Market
The St. Catharines Farmers Market will be operating from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sat.,
Sept. 2. The theme for the Market Discovery Table will be ‘Everything corn’. Rob
Repvos Music will be live on the Market stage, beginning at 10:30 a.m. Distress Centre
Niagara will have an information booth promoting their upcoming Awareness Walk on
Sept. 10. The Niagara IceDogs will also be at the Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For

Garden City Golf Course
The Garden City Golf Course is open all weekend, including holiday Monday. You can
tee off as early as 7:30 a.m. The final 18-hole tee time is 5:30 p.m. The course is

Parks and trails
You can get out and explore the approximately 1,000 acres of parks, gardens, trails,

St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
All aquatics facilities are open for their regular operating hours. Information on
swimming in St. Catharines is available at stcatharines.ca/swimming.


Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre
The Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre is open for regular operating
hours. Information on upcoming activities can be found on stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC.
There is public skating from 12:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, and from 4:15
p.m. to 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3.


St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. all weekend, including Sept. 4. Explore the museum exhibits to find out more about
our City’s history, check out the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Museum, and
spend some time watching as ships move through Lock 3 of the Welland Canal. The
museum is located at 1932 Welland Canals Parkway. More information can be found at

The Film House at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre
The Film House at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre will be showing a variety of films
over the weekend, including ‘Dreamin’ Wild’ on Fri. Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. You can check out
‘Our Body’ at 3 p.m. on Sat. Sept. 2 and ‘Theater Camp’ at 7 p.m. There will be another
screening of ‘Dreamin’ Wild’ on Sun. Sept. 3 at 3 p.m., followed by ‘The Last Waltz’ at 7

St. Catharines Public Library
All St. Catharines Public Library locations will be closed on Mon., Sept. 4.
Meridian Centre
The Niagara IceDogs play their first pre-season game against the Peterborough Petes
on Saturday, Sept. 2. The game gets underway at 7 p.m. More information can be found
on the Meridian Centre’s website.

The following City facilities will be closed on Mon., Sept. 4, 2023:

• The St. Catharines Enterprise Centre
• City arenas
• Russell Avenue Community Centre
• Port Weller Community Centre
• Dunlop Drive and West St. Catharines older adult centres
• Victoria Lawn Cemetery administration office (visitation is always available from
dawn to dusk)
• Meridian Centre (including the box office).
