Cobourg Police Service Auxiliary Recruitment Is Now Open

The Cobourg Police Service (CPS) is looking for motivated and engaged individuals to join the CPS Auxiliary Unit. The recruitment period is currently open and closes on November 17, 2023.

The CPS auxiliary members, a complement of 20 members from all walks of life, work alongside sworn officers and special constables to provide services to Cobourg residents and visitors. The CPS Auxiliary Unit’s primary responsibility is running crime prevention initiatives.

Duties include:
• Lock it or Lose it
• Car Seat Clinics
• Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design audits (CPTED)
• Proactive community patrols (on foot, bike, and Segway)
• Assist with community response initiatives and canvassing
• Community events support

In 2022, auxiliary members invested 4,276 volunteer hours in community safety, completing 31 CPTED audits, 17- Lock It or Lose It Campaigns, and collected a total of 23,360 lbs of food and $23,632 in donations at monthly Cram-A-Cruise food drive events held in partnership with Northumberland Fare Share Food Bank.
