Rusty has been a part of community television since retiring from the military and doing a co-op placement in 2001 at YourTV. Following his placement in 2002 he became a volunteer learning many skills such as camera operation, audio operation, setting up for and tearing down at hundreds of community events.
You would have seen his smiling face at municipal elections, Remembrance Day Services, Santa Claus parades, hockey games, football games, and studio recordings to name a few. He was always willing to participate and help teach the new volunteers coming in.
He has been a staple to our programming and has received Volunteer of the Year on several occasions, often reaching 300 plus hours per year!
As we start a new programming season with-out our top volunteer, we will miss his stories of playing cards, riding his motorcycle, dogs stories, we'll miss his genuine personality, and ability to put his engineering skills to work when we had a challenge to face.
Rusty was truly a key part of this team and it will not be the same in the mobile or studio without him here.
RIP our friend Rusty.
