NIAGARA REGION, September 11, 2023 – The Niagara Regional Housing (NRH) Board of Directors
has announced Cameron Banach as the NRH Chief Executive Officer. Banach replaces Donna
Woiceshyn, who served as CEO of NRH since 2018.
Banach has worked in Community Housing for eight years, starting as the NRH Manager of Capital
Works. Since becoming Manager of Housing Operations in 2017, his team has worked to create 275
new units of affordable housing, while managing and maintaining more than 3,000 existing units. Prior
to NRH, he worked in the development industry, constructing and managing large buildings in various
municipalities.
“Cam has a unique combination of experience in the private and public sector, which has helped him to
make new units a reality in his role as Housing Operations Manager”, said Gary Zalepa, Chair of the
NRH Board, “The Board recognizes that this is a pivotal time for affordable housing – there is an
overwhelming need and a significant interest from all levels of government and the public. We know
that Cam is a strong, action-oriented leader who will ensure that Niagara is positioned to take
advantage of every possible opportunity to develop housing”.
As NRH CEO, Banach will be responsible for NRH-owned Public Housing units and the development of
new NRH communities across Niagara. In alignment with his role as NRH CEO, he will also assume
the position of Niagara Region Director of Housing Services within the Department of Community
Services. As Director, he will be responsible for strategic development, operational planning and the
management of Housing Services. Housing Services’ programs include legislative oversight of Non-
Profits and Co-operatives, Rent Supplement units in private buildings and Niagara Renovates and
Welcome Home Niagara.
Banach reinforced his commitment to increasing units, stating “The Niagara Consolidated Housing
Master Plan (CHMP) has identified that Niagara needs 479 units of Community Housing per year. It’s
going to be a challenge, but I know my team and partners in the region are dedicated, so I am confident
that we can make it happen”.
