Nov. 30, 2023 – St. Catharines Fire Services (SCFS) is proud to welcome two more
emergency dispatch partners. As part of new Fire Dispatch Services agreements, SCFS
is now providing emergency call-taking and dispatch services to Hastings County and
Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.
Hastings County, the second largest county in Ontario, is comprised of 14 municipalities
including Centre Hastings, Bancroft, Madoc Township, Tweed and Deseronto. Mohawks
of the Bay of Quinte is a First Nations Reserve, located east of Belleville.
“We are honoured to be able to offer our professional services to both Hastings County
and Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, and welcome both as partners,” said St. Catharines
Fire Chief Dave Upper.
The City of Quinte West was announced as a new dispatch partner back in September.
SCFS also provides emergency dispatch services to eight other communities in Niagara
region, as well as Haldimand County and Norfolk County.
The agreement with SCFS also prepares Hastings County and Mohawks of the Bay of
Quinte to meet the mandatory transition to the Canadian Radio-television and
Telecommunications Commission’s (CRTC) Next Gen 911 (NG 911) system.
