Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON – The Niagara-on-the-Lake Chamber of Commerce in collaboration
with Tourism Niagara-on-the-Lake, is thrilled to announce the resounding success of the opening
weekend of the 2024 Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival. For the first time in its history, the
festival has been extended to cover three weekends, offering an enriched experience to wine
enthusiasts and tourists alike.
This year’s festival, under the leadership of President & CEO Minerva Ward, embarked on an
ambitious journey to (1) expand the festivities beyond the traditional duration, (2) diversify the
locations to include areas beyond the Heritage District, reaching out to Glendale, and (3)
introduce the unique charm of our wine country and the exquisite taste of icewine to new
audiences at the Outlet Collection at Niagara, and (4) drive business to NOTL wineries and local
businesses. The town’s group of volunteer Ambassadors welcomed guests and provided visitors
information.
Despite chilly weather and the temporary closure of the QEW on Saturday, the festival witnessed
a steady influx of visitors. Eighteen member wineries of the Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake
participated, offering their best icewines and icewine cocktails. Cozy fire pits and a DJ’s vibrant
music added to the festive spirit.
The Niagara-on-the-Lake Icewine Festival is supported by the Province of Ontario, Tourism
Niagara, Wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Wine Marketing Association of Ontario, among
others. The centerpiece of the festival is the Icewine Village on Queen Street, scheduled for
January 20-21 and 27-28, where the focus will be on exquisite culinary offerings paired with the
region’s renowned icewines.
Additionally, the Sparkle and Ice Celebration, a combination of a gala and Icewine Cocktail
Competition, will be hosted on January 26 at the historic old courthouse, capped off with a
fireworks display.
