City of St. Catharines Calls for Nominations for Volunteer Recognition Awards

March 1, 2024 – Nominations are now open for the City of St. Catharines' Volunteer
Recognition Awards. These awards aim to honour outstanding individuals who have
made significant contributions to our community through their volunteer efforts.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the
remarkable contributions of our volunteers,” said Andrea Connelly-Miele, the City’s
community and events coordinator. “The selfless efforts made in our community truly
symbolize the spirit of compassion and service that makes St. Catharines a special
place to live.”

Individuals can be nominated for a Community Impact Award, which is given to those
who have shown selfless dedication to an organization and/or made a significant
difference in the community. Nominations are also being accepted for two other awards:
the Mayor's Volunteer of the Year Award, and the Margaret and Robin McLennan Youth
Volunteer of the Year Award.

Nominees for the Mayor's Volunteer of the Year Award should demonstrate leadership,
and embody compassion, optimism and momentum. Candidates for the Margaret and
Robin McLennan Youth Volunteer of the Year Award must be aged 24 or younger and
promote acts of kindness, be involved in community service, and balance volunteerism
and personal commitments with class, grace and tenacity.

Following the topic for National Volunteer Week organized by Volunteer Canada, this
year’s theme is ‘Every Moment Matters’. The City is planning a celebration to recognize
recipients on April 16. Nominees will receive the details directly.
