May is Food For All month at Village of Hope Niagara

May 1 begins our Food For All Month at Village of Hope Niagara. With a goal to raise
$50,000 to see our programs into the summer months, more than ever, we need your support.
Our food bank plays a crucial role in Lincoln, providing essential support to those in need.
Every month, we distribute over 8500kg of food, impacting over 1800 individuals who rely on our services to put food on their tables, including 375 children who rely on our snack program each month.

The need for our services has never been greater. Shockingly, 1 in 6 individuals
in our community are food insecure, facing uncertainty about where their next meal
will come from. Since 2020, we have seen a staggering 150% increase
in the demand for our services, highlighting the growing urgency of the situation.
Your support is vital in ensuring that we can continue to meet this
increasing demand and provide assistance to those who need it most.
Families are facing dire circumstances, without sufficient food
or sufficient incomes to improve their situation.

In our community, as many as 1 in 6 among our neighbours, are going hungry a part of each month. With
food costs up by 9.7 per cent, and shelter costs up by 7.4 per cent, seniors, children, and their families
in our community are dramatically affected. Food insecurity affects 16.7% of households in Ontario;
63% of households who are food insecure have employment as their main income; 59% of households
receiving social assistance are food insecure.

Village of Hope Niagara, with our team of more than 80 local volunteers, provides access to our food bank, and
more than 30 positive, preventative, and proactive programs of assistance – benefiting more than 1800 people
monthly, throughout the year.

We invite you to follow us on social media, and share the news of our work in the community, with your friends and neighbours, at villageofhopeniagara.org
