Niagara Falls, ON – In anticipation of another busy holiday weekend in the destination as many celebrate Memorial Day, Niagara Parks will be implementing road closures within Queen Victoria Park on Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
As observed by Niagara Parks Police Service, the Victoria Day holiday weekend last weekend was very busy within Niagara Parks, particularly later in the evening for fireworks, which take place nightly at 10 p.m. Over the last few years, Memorial Day weekend has actually been busier than the Canadian holiday weekend and as such, additional holiday road closures will be put in place to support the expected visitation levels. Niagara Parks reminds guests to plan their parking and transportation in advance.
On Saturday, May 25 and Sunday, May 26, the Niagara Parkway will be closed to vehicular traffic from Clifton Hill to Fraser Hill, beginning at 7 p.m. with a full road closure in place by 8 p.m., ending at 12 a.m. Access to Niagara Parks’ Falls Parking Lot will continue from the south. Road closures will be implemented at the discretion of the Niagara Parks Police and Niagara Regional Police Service with timing adjusted as required. Road closures may be modified or cancelled as deemed necessary.
By closing these roadways to vehicular traffic, pedestrians will have better and safer access throughout the core tourism area during the holiday weekend. Niagara Parks Police and Niagara Regional Police will also be on-site to facilitate pedestrian traffic and provide controlled access for emergency services.
The WEGO Green line will continue to operate from Rapidsview to Table Rock Centre during road closures. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the many parking lots in the area, including Niagara Parks’ Rapidsview Parking Lot that offers $10 parking with a shuttle ride to and from Table Rock Centre.
