1. Background :
The Niagara Shrine Club is organizing the annual convention (“Spring Ceremonial”) this year here in Niagara Falls, on
behalf of Rameses Shriners, our central Ontario HQ (from Kingston across to Guelph and up to the James Bay coast).
This Ceremonial will take place from Thursday 6 June 2024 through to 09 June 2024.
This is an annual Convention event, bringing in both the Shriners and their Ladies, and family. We expect to
reserve up to 700-800 Hotel nights in Niagara Falls (we are currently 90% full already). We also expect significant
shopping and other activities in the city and area. This will be the 5 th ceremonial we have brought to Niagara with
an economic impact of over a million dollars,
This four-day convention of Shriners and their families commences on Thursday, June 6 th 2024 and includes many
events:
a) Starting Thursday with a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall at 10:30, and a business meeting Thursday evening. The
City has proclaimed the week, SHRINERS WEEK and on that particular day June 6 our fraternity recognizes the
day, SHRINERS AWARNESS DAY.
b) Saturday 8 th June we are currently planning (with the Niagara Parks) a 1 hour parade (starting at 1:00 pm) down the
Niagara Parkway from Upper Rapid Drive to Chippawa. It will include approx. 30 unique Shriner parade units from
all over central Ontario, to wow the citizens of Niagara.
The Shriners are planning on promoting this large parade (with help from you) to entertain the citizens, and in
doing so bring awareness of their “World’s Greatest Philanthropy”, their 20 world-famous Shriners Childrens
treatment centers and Hospitals for children.
These treatment centers provide world-class, leading-edge orthopedic and burn treatment (and other medical
specialties) for children, regardless of their family's ability to pay for them. They also are involved with leading-
edge research in these fields to advance the science for all other medical practitioners.
Shriners are known for having fun promoting to the public (awareness), and fund-raising for this fantastic cause.
c) Later that evening we will have a formal “Feast” sit-down dinner and celebration with up to 500 attending this
prestigious event.
d) Sunday morning traditionally has a Drum Head church service before the visitors pack up to further enjoy our city or
return home.
