City of St. Catharines Issues Final Property Tax Bills

June 13, 2024 - The City of St. Catharines issued final residential and commercial
property tax bills on June 7, 2024 with final payments due by June 28 and Sept. 27,
2024, by 4:30 p.m. Property owners are urged to meet these deadlines to avoid
penalties.

Payments received after 4:30 p.m. on the due date will incur a 1.25 per cent late
payment charge on the first day of default and on the first day of each calendar month
until the payment is made in full.

Residents can make payments using Visa or Mastercard through the City’s online
payment portal, available at stcatharines.ca/PayOnline. A convenience fee applies for
credit card transactions. For those who prefer to pay in person, City Hall accepts cash,
cheques, and debit payments from Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Cheques can also be deposited in the drop box at the James Street entrance of City
Hall or mailed to Citizens First at the City of St. Catharines, 50 Church St., PO Box
3012, St. Catharines, ON L2R 7C2. It is important to note that cash should not be
placed in the drop box or sent through the mail.

Property tax payments can also still be made through banks, financial institutions, and
online banking. These methods, however, may take a few extra days to process, so
property owners should make their payments several days before the due date to
ensure timely receipt.

The City is reminding those who are subscribed to e-billing that emails from the e-billing
system can end up in junk email folders. E-bill customers are advised to check their junk
folders to ensure they receive the notification of their final tax bills.
If property owners have not received their tax bill, they are encouraged to contact
Citizens First at 905.688.5600.

The City also offers preauthorized payment plans for those who prefer to make
recurring payments. Options include a 12-month plan, 10-month plan and an instalment
plan. Learn more about property taxes and preauthorized payments at
