GRIMSBY – Sam Oosterhoff, MPP for Niagara West, joined Tracey MacArthur, President and CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences, along with project teams from Hamilton Health Sciences and EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare, for a visit to the site of the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby.

With work progressing on internal and external components, MPP Oosterhoff toured the new hospital site and was given an update on the project.

"As a passionate advocate of the new hospital, I was pleased to see progress of this transformative project for Niagara West," said MPP Oosterhoff.

"This project has been one of my top priorities for our community and I am excited to see the hospital progress toward substantial completion.  At the site visit, I was able to thank the project leadership teams – as well as frontline skilled trades workers – for moving this modern world-class hospital to completion."

Construction of the new $224 million hospital is scheduled for substantial completion in May 2025, followed by a transition period that includes on-site staff training and orientation, existing equipment and patient moves.  Hamilton Health Sciences expects teams to begin delivering care in the new facility by the end of summer 2025.

The redeveloped site of Hamilton Health Sciences in Grimsby will include sixty-one acute care inpatient beds – fifty-five beds dedicated to medically complex continuing care and six beds dedicated to labour birthing and recovery services.

Construction of the new campus continues, including installation of exterior masonry stone and commercial glass, as well as landscaping features.

"Our government is proud to be investing more than $40 billion over the next ten years in hospital infrastructure across the province, including about $27 billion in capital grants," said Hon. Kinga Surma, Minister of Infrastructure.

"This includes Ontario's support of the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital development project.  We are one step closer to bringing West Niagara a new, bigger and even better hospital to serve this great community for many years to come."

"Hamilton Health Sciences is very grateful for the support of the Ontario government and MPP Oosterhoff for championing access to high-quality healthcare in West Niagara," said Tracey MacArthur, President and CEO of Hamilton Health Sciences.

"Our hospital team is focused on creating a seamless transition and exceptional experience for patients when the new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital opens its doors next year."
