What’s happening in St. Catharines on the Thanksgiving long weekend

Oct. 10, 2024 – It’s time to give thanks this weekend, as Thanksgiving is on Monday,
Oct. 14. Below are events and activities happening throughout the city on the long
weekend, along with some closures on Thanksgiving.


St. Catharines Farmers Market
The St. Catharines Farmers Market will be open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct.
12. It marks the last day for the outdoor portion of the market this year. Check out live
music on the Market Stage, featuring Tim Atherton, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The
Brain Injury Association of Niagara will also be on-site as part of the Community
Engagement Series. For more information about the Market, visit

Lakeside Park Carousel
This is the final weekend the beloved Lakeside Park Carousel will be open in 2024. It
will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The carousel is still
only five cents per ride or admission by donation. For more information visit

Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm
Enjoy some time with the animals at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm this weekend. The
park is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The park also includes a playground, picnic area
and trails. More information is posted on the City’s website -

Culture Days
This marks the final weekend for Culture Days. The annual festival showcases arts and
culture. Once again, St. Catharines is featured as a Festival Hub. Events planned for
this weekend include Composing Community Dance Showcase, a screening of The
Curious World of Hieronymus Bosch at The Film House, and Ancestors Reflection Trails
– Indigenous Ways of Knowing Tour. Visit stcatharines.ca/CultureDays for details.


St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all
weekend, including Monday, Oct. 14. Explore the museum exhibits to find out more
about the City’s history. More information can be found at stcatharines.ca/museum.

Garden City Golf Course
There are still a few more weeks to get a round or two in at the Garden City Golf
Course. Tee times are available daily from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You can book a tee time
by calling 905.688.5601 ext. 1677. More information about the course is posted on the
City’s website - stcatharines.ca/golf. The final day of operation is set for Oct. 27.


St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
The Aquatics Centre will be open regular hours on Saturday and Sunday, but will be
closed on Monday, Oct. 14. You can find out more about the City’s aquatic programs on
ActiveSTC.


Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre
Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre will be open both Saturday and
Sunday, but closed on Monday, Oct. 14. Public skating is scheduled for both days. You
can register in advance on ActiveSTC.


Parks and trails
Explore approximately 1,000 acres of parks, gardens, open greenspace and trails in St.
Catharines, including the Bruce Trail and other trails in Short Hills Provincial Park. Learn

Closures
The following City facilities will be closed on Thanksgiving (Monday, Oct. 14):
• City Hall
• The St. Catharines Enterprise Centre
• St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
• City arenas
• Russell Avenue Community Centre
• Port Weller Community Centre
• Dunlop Drive, and West St. Catharines older adult centres
• Victoria Lawn Cemetery administration office (visitation is always available from
dawn to dusk)
