Public Service Announcement: New parking regulations in effect for Downtown Beamsville

Lincoln, ON – (October 24, 2024) – The Town of Lincoln has recently implemented new parking regulations in the municipally-owned parking lots in Downtown Beamsville. Approved by Council on October 21, 2024, these updates aim to improve parking availability and enhance access for both customers and visitors alike, ultimately supporting local businesses and the downtown community.

Here’s what’s changing:

  1. Reduction of Parking Duration: The maximum allowable parking time has been reduced from 4 hours to 2 hours. This change applies from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday, at the North Lane and Hixon Street municipal parking lots. The goal is to increase the turnover of parking spaces, ensuring that more visitors have access to parking when visiting shops, restaurants, and other downtown services.
  2. Request for "No Overnight Parking" Signage: In addition to the reduced daytime parking limit, overnight parking is now prohibited. No vehicles may be parked between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. in these lots. This rule is intended to prevent long-term parking that reduces space availability during peak daytime hours.
  3. Increased Enforcement: The Town will be increasing enforcement of these regulations. Parking patrols will occur more frequently to ensure compliance with the new 2-hour time limit and overnight parking restrictions. Non-compliance will result in fines, so please be mindful of the updated parking rules.

These adjustments are being implemented in response to requests from the local business community and visitors who have noted parking shortages in key areas of Downtown Beamsville. By reducing the allowable parking time and increasing enforcement, we aim to make it easier for residents and visitors to access downtown businesses, which will, in turn, contribute to the continued growth and vibrancy of our local economy.

Updated signage has been posted at the affected parking lots to advise of the new regulations.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to make Downtown Beamsville a more accessible and welcoming place for everyone. For further information on municipal parking and the new regulations, please visit our website at lincoln.ca/Parking.
