NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs are excited to host their upcoming “Stick It To Diabetes” game on Sunday, November 3rd, at the Meridian Centre, where they’ll face the Sudbury Wolves. In collaboration with Diabetes Canada, this special game aims to rally fans and the broader community to raise awareness and funds for diabetes, a complex condition impacting millions across the country and around the world.
Throughout the game, fans will have ample opportunities to learn more about diabetes – a condition that affects 4 million Canadians, with another 6 million at high risk. Alarmingly, one person in Canada is diagnosed with diabetes every three minutes, increasing their likelihood of related health complications – including stroke, heart attack, and kidney disease. Moreover, with special activities including a ceremonial puck drop, in-game tributes, and informational booths, fans will have the chance to participate in fundraising efforts – such as Chuck a Puck and Pass the Bucket – with proceeds directly supporting Diabetes Canada.
“Together, we’re playing for more than just the win – we’re playing for everyone impacted by diabetes,” says Tawnia Butler, Manager, Signature & Special Events at Diabetes Canada. “Every shot taken and every fan in the stands brings us closer to a future with fewer barriers and greater awareness for those living with Diabetes. Let’s make this game count and show the strength of the IceDogs, both on and off the ice!”
Tickets for the “Stick It To Diabetes” game on November 3rd are available now and can be purchased online or at the Meridian Centre box office.
