Annual Holiday traditions return to Pelham in 2024

Pelham, ON - The annual award-winning Christmas in Pelham event is returning to offer an extensive list of community activities until December 24, 2024.

The free Outdoor Market, one of the signature elements of Christmas in Pelham, will be held under the arches at Pelham Town Square on Friday, December 6, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The evening event will include 16 local artisans and food vendors, a children’s craft corner, a vintage firetruck, and visits with Santa. While wandering through the evening market, visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy holiday cheer and say hi to special guests, including the snow princess and stilt walkers. Brayden’s Joy Maker Truck will also be on-site with thousands of twinkling lights accepting donations to support Pelham Cares.

While Santa’s elves at the North Pole are busy preparing for the big day, parents in Pelham can finish their last-minute holiday shopping. At the same time, their kids enjoy a night of fun participating in Santa’s Workshop nights at the Meridian Community Centre. This year, Santa’s Workshop has expanded, with four dates where children age four and up can do crafts, watch movies, and play games while enjoying dinner and a special holiday cookie-decorating activity.

“The holiday season is the time of year when neighbours, family and friends can experience the joy of community,” said Mayor Marvin Junkin. “The Town is proud to offer a long list of fun activities over the month of December that bring people together during the holiday season.”

Residents and businesses are encouraged to light up Pelham with the annual house decorating contest and light tour by submitting their entries online before December 11, 2024. Take the self-guided light tour when the full route is released on December 13, 2024. Don’t forget to cast your votes for the best locations in multiple categories after you’ve finished your drive.

Throughout the month of December, the Meridian Community Centre will host a number of seasonal workshops, public skating and a holiday-themed Big Band performance. Donation bins will also be available for the annual toy and food drives supporting Pelham Cares. And don’t forget to put your letters to Santa with a return address in the official Santa mailbox before Friday, December 15, 2024!

The holiday events continue with the Pelham Cares Community Food drive will run from December 6 to 8th, with food donations accepted by volunteers at the Meridian Community Centre. The community is invited to attend as the Fabulous Fenwick Lions host the 27th annual Santa Claus parade, travelling through downtown Fenwick at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
