At approximately 12:40 p.m. today, police were dispatched to the area of King Street and Cottesmore Avenue in the Town of Cobourg for a report of a caller hearing what they believed to be gunshots.
Police arrived on the scene to investigate. Surrounding schools were placed on lockdown as a precaution.
Police cleared the area and the schools. It was determined that the sound was from the construction site in the area where air-compressed tools were being used. There is currently no risk to public safety.
