Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON – On Sunday, local MPP Wayne Gates joined the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre’s Annual General Meeting to celebrate the organization’s achievements over the past fiscal year and learn more about its plans for the future. Highlighted at the event was the recognition of a $75,700 Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), which is being used to transform the Centre’s waterfront grounds into an inspiring outdoor space.
“Whether it’s helping people learn new things, connect with their community, or simply have fun, organizations like Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre deliver experiences that make a difference,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “That’s why grant support through the Ontario Trillium Foundation is so important. This funding will help ensure they remain at the heart of the community for decades to come.”
With the stunning backdrop of the Niagara River, the enhanced space will offer the community the opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty that surrounds the facility. The project includes updated electrical, the addition of exterior lighting and replacement of gazebo, making the space ideal for outside activities including workshops and gatherings. These improvements allow Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre to provide expanded offerings and make the arts more accessible to a broader audience, day or night.
“This project marks an exciting new chapter for the art hub of the community,” said Rima Boles, Art Centre Director for the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre. “We created a welcoming outdoor space that will allow Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre to host more open-air events and engage with the community in new ways. The view of the Niagara River offers a picturesque setting that inspires artistic creativity or invites a peaceful connection with nature. Through the support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we’re excited to see how this will further promote creativity and connection with the beauty of Niagara-on-the-Lake.”
