The Cobourg Fire Department recently received a $32,120 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada to ensure our first responders have the necessary equipment to keep community members and themselves safe. The grant was used to purchase new bunker gear, ice water rescue equipment, helmets, and safety vests.

“We are grateful to the Foundation and our local Firehouse Subs in Cobourg for awarding us this grant,” said Ellard Beaven, Cobourg Fire Chief. “The new bunker gear fulfilled a critical need within our department and allowed our Firefighters to better help the people of Cobourg during emergency situations.”

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada has awarded 369 grants to public safety organizations since 2015. This grant is one of 18 Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada awarded to public safety organizations during the most recent grant cycle. The 18 grants will provide critical lifesaving equipment valued at more than $504,000 across Canada.
