Feb. 14, 2025 — With significant snowfall in the forecast and City crews preparing for
snow removal operations, S’no Parking restrictions will be in effect starting at noon
tomorrow - Saturday, Feb. 15.
The restrictions prohibit on-street parking in most neighbourhoods during winter storm
events, ensuring roads are clear for plows, emergency vehicles and public transit.
Residents must move their vehicles off the street to avoid fines and towing. Those who
fail to comply will be subject to a $30 ticket and potential towing at their expense.
Local weather and road conditions will determine how long the restrictions remain in
place. Residents should plan to keep their vehicles off the street for at least 96 hours.
Vehicles parked on the road during a S’no Parking ban slow down plowing operations,
leading to unsafe road conditions. Cars left on the street also force plows to return for
additional passes, delaying snow-clearing efforts for the entire community.
Some areas in the city are exempt from S’no Parking due to limited off-street parking,
including sections of downtown, Merritton and Port Dalhousie. Residents can view the
S’no Parking exemption map at stcatharines.ca/SnoParking.
The public will be notified when the ban is lifted via the City’s website, social media
channels, mySTC notifications and local news outlets.
For residents needing alternative parking, free overnight parking is available at the
Ontario Street and Carlisle Street / Garden Park parking garages. Vehicles must exit the
garages by 8 a.m.
