NIAGARA SPCA WELCOMES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The Niagara SPCA and Humane Society is pleased to announce that Amelia Canto has joined the organization
as its new Chief Executive Officer.


Amelia is a strategic and engaging leader who possesses a wealth of experience in senior leadership roles
from the hospital foundation, education and social services sectors. She has extensive experience in
philanthropy and partnership development having led major capital campaigns as the President of the
Scarborough Hospital Foundation; Executive Director of Alumni, Development and Community Relations at
MacEwan University; and as the Executive Director of Development for the Faculty of Medicine at the
University of Toronto. Her experience building relationships with communities across the post-secondary and
healthcare sectors will be beneficial to the Niagara SPCA. Amelia also has a long history of leadership serving
on boards and committees for organizations that include Centennial College, Colleges Ontario and the
Association of Fundraising Professionals. She is an animal lover and excited to join the team to help make a
difference in animal welfare within our community.


The SPCA is thrilled to have Amelia’s leadership, experience and talents at the organization to pursue
construction of a new Niagara SPCA and Humane Society pet care centre.


The Niagara SPCA would also like to thank Rick Perciante, for serving as Interim Executive Director following
the passing of the former Executive Director, John Greer.
