Submitted by Anonymous (not verified) on

TGIF Opera/Kingston Community Strings and The Kingston Youth Orchestra will return to The Spire to present some highlights and plot narration of one of the greatest operas ever written, Mozart’s comic masterpiece, The Marriage of Figaro.

Five outstanding opera soloists will join us for this production including the magnificent Canadian Baritone Alexander Hajek in the title role. The soprano roles, Susanna and The Countess, will be sung by two Kingston natives and Cantabile Choirs alumni. Kathryn Johnston and Emma Battel last sung together 10 years ago on the stage of Regiopolis-Notre Dame in the school’s production of Mary Poppins. Both have gone on to do multiple degrees in voice and are now emerging young artist on the Canadian opera scene. The cast is rounded out by U of T Operas Dante Mullin Santone as The Count and Ukranian/Kingstonian Maryna Zalevska, playing the dual roles of Cherubino and Barbarina.

The show is conducted by Hugh Johnston.
