NIAGARA FALLS, ON— The City of Niagara Falls, in collaboration with Mural Routes, is excited to announce a call for artists to create mural artwork during this year’s Culture Days. The event will kick off on September 30, 2025, at the Niagara Falls Exchange, and artists are invited to submit their proposals by the upcoming deadline of May 9, 2025.
This initiative aims to highlight the theme "Creativity / Culture Hub," and up to five artists will be shortlisted to receive a stipend of $500 for developing their design proposals. From these submissions, one artist or artist collective will be selected to bring their vision to life, creating a mural in the Wilma Morrison Courtyard at the Niagara Falls Exchange. The mural will adorn a wall that measures 26 feet long and 11 feet high, covering approximately 300 square feet.
The selected artist or artist collective will receive the following compensation:
- Artist fee for mural production: $5,500
- Design fee: $500
- Materials and supplies: $1,200
In addition to the primary artist, the selected individual or collective will mentor two assistant artists during the project's production phase, ensuring a collaborative and educational experience. Mural Routes will provide funding for the assistant artists.
Artists who are legally able to work in Canada are encouraged to apply. Notifications regarding the shortlisted artists will be communicated by June 15, 2025.
