
Spring is in the air, and Parks Canada and the Friends of Fort George are busy preparing for the 2025 season! We are excited to announce that Fort George will be re-opening on weekends from April 5, 2025 – May 18, 2025, and offering featured talks, musket demonstrations and more. From May 19, 2025 – August 31, 2025, Fort George and the Friends of Fort George Gift Shop will be open daily from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.
We have lots of exciting events taking place throughout May, and we hope you will join us.
Friends of Fort George 38th Annual General Meeting

We hope you will join us for our 38th Annual General Meeting which will include a summary of the past year, a look at what’s being planned for the 2025 season, and the election of the board. Following the business portion of the meeting, we will have light refreshments and a featured presentation by Ron Dale, who will be speaking about the Treaty of Ghent, and how it defined our borders. We will also have Tony Chisholm and Rick Meloen sharing images from their visit to the National Archives in Washington in 2014, where they saw the original Treaty of Ghent Document.
Niagara in BOOM: Mother’s Day Special

War of 1812 Officers’ Day

Fort George is filled with pomp and circumstance as War of 1812 Re-enactors show what life was like in Upper Canada for the “upper class”. Beautiful uniforms and décor will adorn the Officers’ Quarters with demonstrations happening throughout the day.

Artillery Day

Join us to celebrate The Royal Artillery’s 309th Birthday. Fort George will be celebrating with a BANG! Cannons will roar to life with firing demonstrations along with specialized programing that will highlight the “Heavy Metal” from days gone by. Artillery firing demonstrations will be happening at 11:15am, 1:15pm and 3:15pm.
