Community Event - Burlington/Oakville - The Halton Non-Profit Congress-Saturday, Nov. 8

Join us for a transformative event tailored to non-profit leaders in arts, culture, heritage, recreation and sports. Explore strategies, build connections, and gain insights to boost your impact. Dive into topics like Empowering Communities, IT & Cyber Security, Ethics & Advocacy, Fundraising, and Volunteer Engagement.
 

The event will kick-off with keynote speaker Troy D. Glover, Professor in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies with the University of Waterloo sharing information and research on how community sport and cultural activities help reduce loneliness and build inclusivity and belonging in our communities.  The morning continues with Chris Chandler of Viper Basketball sharing the Viper Basketball story and how he went from player to coach to building community through sport.  The afternoon offers a variety of education sessions to choose from, including Fundraising Essential for Volunteer Managers with Sammy Feilchenfeld, CVA of Volunteer Toronto, Sport Aurora sharing the journey to creating a sports alliance in partnership with their local municipality, and Heather Kaufmann and Heather Johnson's presentation, Encouraging Volunteer Engagement: Planning, Position Descriptions, and Postings.
 

The event will also include Building Community Relationships panel discussion featuring Don Pangman of ArtHouse Halton, Rishia Burke, Executive Director, Community Development Halton, Molly McCoubrey, Staff Lead for the Milton Community Fund, and Heather Kaufmann, Supervisor, Community Development Supervisor, Recreation and Sport with the Town of Halton Hills.  This panel will hare information on ways to build relationships to improve community connections and financial support with a focus on sport, arts and culture, and environmental organizations.
 

All attendees will be provided with lunch and light refreshments throughout the day.
