Asphalt Resurfacing at Dufferin Islands
  • Popular nature area to undergo roadway improvements between June 9 to 13

Niagara Falls, ON—Following the recent completion of asphalt resurfacing along the Niagara Parkway in Queen Victoria Park, work crews will next mobilize on Monday, June 9, to resurface the traffic loop in the Dufferin Islands nature area. Work is expected to be completed by June 13, 2025.

A second phase of this project will be announced later in the summer, with the planned resurfacing of Burning Springs Hill.

Traffic Considerations

Please note that motorists will not have access to Dufferin Islands during this time, including access via Burning Springs Hill, which will be closed at Portage Road. The interior walking trails and pedestrian bridges will remain open, allowing foot traffic to continue moving through the area. While the road closure is in effect, guests are asked to take caution and avoid entering the designated work zone.

Visitors may experience minor delays, increased noise levels and dust due to ongoing construction activities. Additionally, large trucks and heavy equipment will be entering and exiting the Dufferin Islands Loop frequently.

Parking and Access

Visitors who wish to access the nature area during construction may park at the nearby Rapidsview Parking Lot or Floral Showhouse Parking Lot and either walk or take the WEGO bus to the site.

All Public Notices, along with information about ongoing construction projects are available on Niagara Parks’ Repairs and Maintenance webpage here.
