Grand opening at MF Ker Park, celebrating six new courts and generous contributions from OLG
NIAGARA FALLS, ON - June is Recreation and Parks Month, and the City of Niagara Falls joins organizations across Ontario in celebrating the vital role that parks, green spaces, and recreational activities play in building vibrant and inclusive communities.
To mark June Recreation and Parks Month, the City will host a special event at MF Ker Park on Saturday, June 28th. The highlight of the day will be the grand opening of six newly constructed pickleball courts.
The festivities will kick off with a free "Learn to Play Pickleball" session from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All ages are welcome, and complimentary equipment and experienced instructors will be available to introduce players to the game of pickleball.
At 1:00 p.m., a formal ceremony will take place to celebrate the grand opening of the courts. This will include acknowledgment of the generous financial support from OLG, which made constructing these new facilities, possible. Mayor Diodati, fellow Councillors, and representatives from OLG will be present to commemorate this significant addition to the community.
“OLG is proud to be a vital part of the City of Niagara Falls,” said Kathleen Devine, OLG’s Senior Municipal Relations Manager. “For the last 50 years, since the organization’s start in 1975, 100 per cent of OLG profits are always reinvested in Ontario to support provincial priorities. From critical infrastructure to important local programs, to community festivals and community grant programs, OLG’s profits are hard at work in the City of Niagara Falls and all across our province to build stronger communities. We also appreciate the contribution of gaming employees at Fallsview Casino and Casino Niagara who are making life in Niagara Falls that much better. When you play at an Ontario casino, you play for Ontario.”
The City of Niagara Falls is grateful for OLG's financial assistance with more than 50 new municipal projects initiated in the past year, which greatly benefit our community.
