Welland’s floral display bed program colourfully celebrates community pride

Welland, ON – The City of Welland is launching an enhanced floral display bed program, offering residents, organizations, and businesses the opportunity to mark milestone anniversaries, notable events, and impactful contributions to the community through vibrant seasonal floral displays.

For more than 50 years, the City’s parks staff have designed and maintained beautiful flower beds throughout Welland. These displays not only elevate the appearance of public spaces but also acknowledge the activities and organizations that help shape the community.

“Our floral displays have always been a point of pride in Welland,” said Dave Steven, manager of parks, forestry, and cemeteries. “This program allows us to connect beautification efforts with community celebration. It’s a meaningful way to honour the contributions that make Welland a better place to live.”

Through the program, individuals and groups can apply to have a floral display bed commemorate significant achievements, businesses or charities celebrating decades of service, or community events with historical significance. The floral beds are a reflection of civic pride and Welland’s community spirit.

Applications will be accepted year-round, with a deadline of December 31 for displays requested the following year, and early applications are encouraged. Submissions will be reviewed based on the program’s policy and major anniversaries, non-profit and charitable organizations, and events of local, provincial, or national importance will be prioritized.

The floral display bed program aligns with the City’s Strategic Plan priority of Livability, which emphasizes building a strong sense of community and connection through inclusive public spaces.
