Quarter-century milestone marks thousands of families supported through free programs
Niagara Region, ON – August 1, 2025 – Twenty-five years ago, Wellspring Niagara planted seeds of hope in the region's cancer community—seeds that have grown into a thriving network of support, connection, and healing that celebrates its silver anniversary on August 4th. What began as a vision to fill a critical gap in cancer care has flourished into the region's beacon of compassionate support, where countless individuals and families have found sanctuary, hope, and healing from the moment of diagnosis through treatment and into recovery. This powerful legacy of transformation continues to grow, turning individual struggles into collective strength and ensuring that in Niagara's cancer community, no one ever faces their journey alone.
From Personal Loss to Community Lifeline
The centre was born from tragedy and transformed into hope. Aldo Mantini, a Niagara resident who lost his battle with cancer at just 31, inspired his community to establish Wellspring Niagara. Before his death, Aldo made his sister Ann and family promise to continue his dream of creating a cancer support centre where no one would face the disease alone.
Today, that promise has blossomed into Niagara's cornerstone of cancer support, serving men, women, and children throughout the region with comprehensive programs—all at no cost.
Transforming Lives: 25 Years of Hope and Healing
Since opening, Wellspring Niagara has delivered support to thousands of cancer-affected families through hundreds of thousands of hours of free programming, including support groups, educational workshops, counselling, and wellness programs. Strong partnerships with healthcare providers like the Walker Family Cancer Centre have expanded this reach across the region.
"Twenty-five years ago, Aldo’s vision of a place where families and communities could find hope during cancer's toughest moments was coming to life," said Ann Mantini-Celima. "What began as one person's dream has grown into something extraordinary through collective action. This milestone celebrates everyone who contributed: families who found strength within our walls, volunteers who gave generously of themselves, donors who fueled our mission, and community members who championed our cause.
Together, we've built more than a support centre—we've created a beacon of hope where healing begins and no one walks their cancer journey alone."

With cancer rates continuing to rise and more families seeking support, the organization remains committed to delivering quality programming at no cost while building long-term sustainability to serve future generations.

September 12th: A Day of Celebration and Community
This milestone anniversary culminates with Wellspring Niagara's annual Community Day on Friday, September 12th. Discover firsthand the impact of community generosity with guided tours of "the house Niagara built" at 50 Wellspring Way in Fonthill anytime from 11am to 3pm. As evening falls, join us at Peace Park beginning at 5pm for a Kids Disco with DJ Ryen, food trucks, West Jet raffle followed by live music by Revolver & Friends at 7pm (bring your lawn chairs).

As a not-for-profit, Wellspring Niagara does not receive funding from the government or any other cancer-related organizations. All programs and services are free of charge and are funded by the generosity of the community they serve.
