St. Catharines Farmers Market celebrates the harvest season during Farmers Market Week

Aug 1, 2025 – You can’t ‘beet’ local produce. The St. Catharines Farmers Market will
join markets across Ontario in celebrating Farmers Market Week, Aug. 3 to 10.

Residents can visit the St. Catharines Farmers Market on Thursday (8 a.m. to 2
p.m.) or Saturday (7 a.m. to 2 p.m.) at Market Square, 91 King St. in Downtown St.
Catharines. The farmers market offers year-round access to fresh, locally grown fruits,
vegetables, meats, handmade goods, flowers, artisanal breads, and more.

“Now is the perfect time to visit the St. Catharines Farmers Market,” said Deanna
Chakarova, community and market co-ordinator. “Our vendors have a wide variety of
fresh, delicious food grown right here in Niagara. Your visit supports local agriculture,
strengthens the local economy, and gives you the chance to connect directly with the
community that grows your food. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a steady
marketgoer, we invite you to join us during Farmers Market Week and support local.”

August is peak growing season, which includes fruits such as apricots, blueberries,
cherries, cranberries, currants, and peaches — and vegetables including beans, beets,
carrots, corn, tomatoes and zucchini. Many items are harvested shortly before market
day, ensuring maximum freshness and flavour.

In addition to its regular offerings, the farmers market features the Discovery
Table and Music in the Square events every Saturday through October, providing
entertainment and educational opportunities for visitors of all ages. The Discovery Table
topic for Sat, Aug. 9 will be “Peaches n’ Plums,” with the Music in the Square concert
series featuring Rob Repovs Music.
