International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD), recognized annually on August 31 is the world’s largest campaign to end drug poisonings, remember without stigma those who have died from drug poisonings, and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind.
The theme for 2025 is One Big Family, Driven by Hope, highlighting how overdose impacts not just individuals, but entire communities — and emphasizes the collective power we have to heal, prevent further loss, and support one another.
On August 27, community agencies are coming together to host International Overdose Awareness Day events across the region, raising awareness about drug poisonings, reducing stigma, promoting naloxone education, and highlighting available community supports. By participating in IOAD events, sharing stories, and spreading awareness, we contribute to building safer, more compassionate communities where every life is valued and supported.
Join us in Belleville, August 27th for an event to raise awareness about overdose, promote naloxone education, and connect with community support. Featuring guest speakers, memorials, a BBQ, and resources from local agencies.
