Bracebridge Man Wanted for Murder Is Dead

An autopsy conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service confirmed Mitchell Gray died due to smoke inhalation

UPDATE: Death and Arson Investigation – Bracebridge The individual wanted in connection with the ongoing death and arson investigation in Bracebridge has been confirmed deceased.

On August 1, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., Bracebridge OPP responded to a report of gunfire at a residence on Beatrice Town Line Road.  Officers located a deceased male and a residence fully engulfed in flames. The male, 60-years-old of Bracebridge, died from a gunshot wound.

A suspect search was initiated with support from specialized OPP units. A shelter-in-place order was issued and lifted by 1:45 a.m. on August 2.

Further investigation revealed two additional deceased individuals inside the residence. Postmortem examinations confirmed one as the 29-year-old male from Bracebridge, who was wanted for murder. His cause of death was smoke inhalation. The second individual, a 59-year-old female of Bracebridge, died from a gunshot wound.

The investigation continues under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and the Office of the Fire Marshal.
