Niagara-on-the-Lake to Launch Phase Two of Engagement for the Parks & Recreation Masterplan

August 13, 2025

The Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of Phase Two of its Parks and Recreation Masterplan, a community-driven initiative aimed at enhancing recreational spaces, programs, and facilities across the municipality.

Over the past year, the Town’s consultants, thinc design, have worked to develop the draft Masterplan, using feedback gathered during Phase One of public engagement. This next phase invites residents to review the progress to date and continue shaping the Plan’s direction through additional engagement opportunities.

The Masterplan outlines a long-term vision for revitalized parks, improved recreation services, and expanded programming. It is intended to guide investment and planning decisions for years to come, ensuring that public spaces reflect the evolving needs and values of the community.

As part of Phase Two, residents are encouraged to participate by:

  • Reviewing the draft Plan and providing feedback through the Town’s Join the Conversation engagement platform from August 20 to September 15.
  • Attending a drop-in Public Information Centre (PIC) on Tuesday, August 26, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the pavilion by the baseball diamonds at the Virgil Sports Park (1565 Four Mile Creek Road, Virgil). The PIC will be led by the Town’s consultants and will allow the opportunity for community members to ask questions.

The draft Master Plan will be available on August 20 through Join the Conversation, with hard copies provided at the PIC on August 26. These opportunities will allow residents to review the Plan and share their input before it is finalized. Following public engagement, the consultants will compile and incorporate the feedback, with the final Parks and Recreation Masterplan anticipated for completion in October 2025, pending Council approval.
