Aug. 26, 2025 – Labour Day is Monday, Sept. 1, and there are still plenty of activities residents of St. Catharines can enjoy throughout the city during the last long weekend of summer.
Lion Dunc Schooley Pool
While the outdoor pools at Port Dalhousie and Lincoln Park have closed, you can still make a splash one more time at Lion Dunc Schooley Pool in Merritton. The pool remains open this week and through the weekend, before closing for the season on Monday, Sept. 1. Check out the schedule at stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC.
Crossing Guards Return To Duty
A reminder that crossing guards will be back on duty at various crosswalks within the city to assist residents travelling to school. Please exercise additional caution when approaching a crosswalk.
Lakeside Park Carousel
The historic Lakeside Park Carousel will be open for its regular summer hours – from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. all weekend, including Monday, Sept. 1. The price remains five cents per ride or admission by donation. After Labour Day, the Carousel will only be open on weekends through to Thanksgiving weekend, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Check out stcatharines.ca/carousel for more information.
St. Catharines Farmers Market
The St. Catharines Farmers Market operates 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. Robert Alfieri will be live on the Market Stage, with The Discovery Table featuring information about pears. St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre
St. Catharines Kiwanis Aquatics Centre will be open all weekend, including Monday, for leisure activities and fitness activities. The last Toonie Swim will also take place from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30. Visit stcatharines.ca/ActiveSTC to reserve a spot.
Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm
Visit the animals at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm before they leave for the season at Thanksgiving. The farm allows for fun, family-friendly, free animal viewing along with a playground, trails and open space. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information visit stcatharines.ca/happyrolphs.
Splash pads
Splash pads will be operating on their regular hours (10 a.m. until 8 p.m.), including Sept. 1. Stop by Bogart Street Park, Catharine Street Park, Lester B. Pearson Park, Secord Woods, and West Park for some fun in the water. For more details, and locations, visit stcatharines.ca/splashpads.
Garden City Golf Course
Garden City Golf Course is open all weekend, including the holiday Monday. You can tee off as early as 7:30 a.m. The final tee time is 5:30 p.m. Visit stcatharines.ca/golf for more details and to book a tee time in advance.
St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre
The St. Catharines Museum and Welland Canals Centre is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. all weekend, including Sept. 1. Explore the museum exhibits to find out more about our City’s history, check out the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame and Museum, and spend some time watching as ships move through Lock 3 of the Welland Canal. A reminder, the Museum’s annual Guided Spirit Walks at Victoria Lawn Cemetery start Sept. 4 and tickets are going quickly. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased on ActiveNet by searching “Spirit Walks”.
