August 27, 2025 – The City of St. Catharines will implement special event parking rates
this weekend to manage increased demand during the Somekinda Festival and other
downtown activities.
Special event parking will cost $20 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30 and
Sunday, Aug. 31 at the following City-operated lots and garages:
• Ontario Street Parking Garage
• Garden Park / Carlisle Street Garage
• Garden Park Lot
• Race Street Lot
• Head Street Lot
• David S. Howes Way Lot
• Market Square Lot (City Hall)
• St. Paul Street / Westchester Lot
• St. Catharines Public Library – Central Branch Lot
Payments are accepted via cash or the HonkMobile app.
Parking will remain free at the Market Square and Garden Park lots during the St.
Catharines Farmers Market on Saturday morning.
Event impacts at Montebello Park
Set up for Somekinda Festival begins Wednesday, Aug. 27 and portions of the park and
nearby streets will be closed through Tuesday, Sept. 2. Temporary fencing will restrict
access to event areas, including the pavilion and washrooms. Portable washrooms will
be provided. The playground will close to the public during festival hours, from 1 p.m. to
11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Additional parking and road impacts
A portion of Lake Street, from Queen to William streets, will temporarily close to traffic
from 11 p.m. to midnight on both event days to allow safe pedestrian exit from the event
site.
Accessible Parking
On-street spaces on Queen Street between Midland St and Lake Street will be reserved
for accessibility needs.
Restricted On-street Parking
Select spaces on Midland Street and the William Street Lot will be closed for event
operations.
On-Street Metered Parking
On-street parking remains free on the weekend in the downtown core.
