OPP Gun Amnesty Initiative

April 3, 2018

The Ontario Provincial Police has launched the Gun Amnesty Initiative for the month of April. The aim is to allow residents safely dispose of unwanted, unlicensed and unregistered firearms or other weapons. The Liberal government is proposing new gun laws nationwide to cut down on the rise in gun-related violence. The OPP says this law would require gun retailers to keep gun sale and stock records for at least 20 years. The goal is to reduce the number of guns in communities and prevent weapons from being stolen.
